Alexander and Jemima (Burd) Agard

Alexander Agard was the second son of Samuel and Lydia (Hibbard) Agard.  On 14 April 1858, Alexander married Jemima Burd (b: 1825) of Mecklenburg, New York. He made a living by farming the land in Dix, Schuyler County, New York.

Jemima was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Burd. Jemina’s siblings were: Marinda, Alram, T.J., and Sarah.[1]  Thomas and Sarah Burd are buried in the McIntyre Settlement Cemetery, Mecklenburg, NY.[2]

Alexander and Jemima had one son, Hibbard Agard born in 1859.  In 1898 Hibbard married Georgia Rolliston.  Hibbard and Georgia lived with his parents while Hibbard worked his father’s farm.  Georgia died in 1903 and is buried in the Montour Cemetery. I believe they had no children. In 1910 Hibbard is shown living in Dix as a widower.  The other person in his household is a hired man Hiram Hadley.
